Louisiana State Youth Opportunities Unlimited (LSYOU) is a program in the LSU College of Education that helps at-risk students in high school by providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed.
LSYOU
"Always Moving Forward..."

LSYOU started out as a stand alone program, however, due to the success of the model, it has since then provided the blueprint for numerous, equally beneficial, endeavors. These other programs include, but are not limited to, GEAR-UP LSU, 21st Century, and an AT&T partnership that helps benefit inner-city New Orleans students.
The program serves to provide high school students with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful in high school and beyond. LSYOU also functions as a community outreach program, used as a service learning site where LSU faculty, staff, and students can learn effective teaching techniques while making an impact on the lives of at-risk youth. The centerpiece of the program is the summer component. It allows students to create a bond with the faculty over several weeks that lasts through the students' 'Follow-Up" term, which lasts through High School graduation.
Since 1986, the LSYOU program has positively affected the lives of hundreds of youths throughout Louisiana.
